Specialized Experience Statement: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) packing and unpacking boxes, crates, or shipments in the proper manner in order to prevent damages; 2) assisting with damage inspections; 3) assisting with inspections to ensure materials have been packaged properly; and 4) use various computer programs to type and prepare reports and documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Typing Requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Additional information
- Perform damage inspections when requested by the shipper or the claims office.
- Prepare documentation reporting carrier performance using automated systems.
- Ensure inventory is complete and report on damage and missing items is accurate.
- Counsel members regarding policies and procedures for the proper preparation of personal property for shipment or storage, including specialized items, to domestic and overseas locations.
- Inspect crates and material for overseas or domestic shipment and reject those not meeting specifications.
- Observe, document, and evaluate carrier and contractor performance.
Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license
- May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
