Job Description

Governmental Interactions Compliance (GIC) is part of US Bank’s Risk Management & Compliance division. GIC covers the following compliance areas:

  • Federal, state, and local pay-to-play rules with regard to employee political activity;

  • State and local procurement and legislative lobbying;

  • Gifts and entertainment involving U.S. public officials and employees;

  • Inquiries, reports, and certifications regarding the above; and

  • Management of policies and training relating to the above.

The incumbent for this role will report to the team leader and, together with the team’s junior members, be primarily responsible for day-to-day activities including preclearance of personal political contributions, creation or assistance in the filing of internal and external reports, responding to requests for information from regulators and management, and responding to questions from the firm’s multiple business lines.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically more than six years of applicable experience in financial services or other regulated entity, or at a law firm working in the political law arena

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Preference for applicant to have a juris doctorate, master’s degree, or other higher educational equivalent
  • Experience with three or more of the following: federal, state, and local pay-to-play laws. Federal, state, and local public official gift and entertainment laws and regulations. Procurement or legislative lobbying rules, registrations, & reports. Familiarity with one or more vendor systems to pre-clear and maintain records of political activity. Multiple elements of a compliance program
  • Considerable knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business
  • Considerable understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls
  • Thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
  • Strong analytical, process facilitation and project management skills
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective relationship building and negotiation skills
  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations
  • Applicable professional certifications

**The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.**

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $98,175.00 - $115,500.00 - $127,050.00
