Duties

As a Writer-Editor, you will:

  • Provide input to OIG's managers and senior management on how to effectively manage writing and editing activities.
  • Reach out to users to solicit feedback on written products and assist the manager to apply the feedback in proposing appropriate changes.
  • Gather information for assignments by collaborating with teams.
  • Develop or review reports of significant audit findings of nationwide scope.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Preparing, reviewing, editing, and writing documents for distribution to a variety of audiences.

Examples of such experience might include:

Editing reports or other written documents developed by others for publication; OR

Advising and assisting authors during the writing stage; OR

Critically reviewing reports or other written documents for clarity and coherence; OR

Communicating information in reports to internal and external audiences.

Conditions of Employment (CONTINUED):

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued purchase card for business-related travel.
