Position Overview:
The Executive Assistant to the Clerk performs essential work for the executive management team of the U.S. District Clerk’s Office for the Northern District of Texas. The Northern District of Texas encompasses 100 counties across north central and west Texas and has seven places of holding court. The Clerk’s Office provides professional administrative and operational support to enable the Court to fairly and impartially administer justice within the jurisdiction conferred by the Constitution and Congress.
The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Clerk of Court, who is a court officer statutorily appointed by the judges of the District Court. The Executive Assistant performs duties as assigned by the Clerk, and serves as the Clerk’s liaison to judicial staff, staff in federal agencies, attorneys, and the public. The Executive Assistant also assists in formulating and monitoring the strategic plan for the Clerk’s Office, oversees executive records management, assists with planning and executing district-wide court functions, maintains the Clerk’s calendar, prepares correspondence and other materials, edits materials prepared by others for the Clerk’s signature for accuracy, proper grammar, and spelling, arranges travel and prepares travel vouchers for the Clerk in accordance with policies and regulations, identifies and resolves travel problems and inquiries, and prepares, files, and certifies official paperwork on behalf of the Clerk. Additionally, the Executive Assistant provides staff support to various committees as assigned.
Requirements:
This position requires work to be performed in the office. Telework may be permitted after six months on a limited basis. Expert Excel and PowerPoint skills are required. A notary license will be required, and fees for obtaining and maintaining the license will be reimbursed. Personal and professional references will be checked before an offer is extended to a candidate. Specialized Experience:
Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a court or professional work environment is required. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for up to two of these seven years.
Education Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in political science, government, public administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
