CLASSIFICATION: Year-round, full time
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Vice President of People, Safe Sport, & DEI
LOCATION: Park City, UT
TRAVEL: Up to 10% for meetings and events
SALARY: $75,000-$80,000

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this position is to raise the profile of the organization’s mission and vision of Athlete Safety (via SafeSport) by overseeing strategy, member/community outreach, policies, and procedures including compliance with requirements from the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the U.S. Center for SafeSport (USCSS); worker’s compensation; and unemployment program. Primary athlete safety responsibilities include: complaint intake, case/document management, and response; data and trend tracking and analysis; and communication regarding education, resources and specific cases.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
SafeSport
- Serves as a key liaison to the USOPC, USCSS, other national governing bodies (NGBs), member clubs, etc. for all athlete safety, SafeSport, and other code of conduct and misconduct matters.
- Develops, updates, implements, communicates and trains on the SafeSport Code, SafeSport and Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Program (MAAPP) policies and procedures. Works closely with various departments to ensure best practices are created, communicated and consistently followed.
- Receives, tracks, investigates, and makes recommendations on disposition of complaints, including assisting the necessary parties with investigating SafeSport and complaints, U.S. Ski and Snowboard code of conduct, and other related policy violations.
- Communicates progress and status of policies, complaints, investigations, hearing procedures, appeals, and final resolutions.
- Provides communication to all relevant parties on progress and status of complaints, investigation, hearing procedures, appeals and final resolutions. Disseminate information through USSS website, newsletters, emails, social media, etc.
- Provides consultation and education on athlete safety questions and concerns. Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for ongoing development and updating of training programs and resources for staff, leadership, and membership.
- Manages and develops effective working relationships with internal/external stakeholders. Serves as the primary liaison for all matters related to abuse prevention issues with external institutions (e.g., USOPC, USCSS, other NGBs, member clubs, etc.).
- Collects and summarizes feedback on athlete safety efforts, engages in ongoing evaluations of programming, proposes and implements new ideas. Collects and reports program metrics (e.g., background screenings, abuse course completions, misconduct complaints, member suspensions/terminations). Analyzes data to assist in identifying trends, making decisions, and strategic planning.
- Oversees all athlete safety training and education completions among various constituent groups (USSS staff, officials, coaches, volunteers, members, etc.) to ensure that compliance is maximized on athlete safety matters.
- Develops effective tracking systems for compliance, complaints and related matters, and provides updates and status reports as appropriate.
- Continually monitors relevant subject matter, identify issues and trends. Stays up to date with USOPC and USCSS standards and training.
- Manages and oversees audits from regulatory bodies (USOPC and USCSS) and insurance carrier(s) to ensure compliance with safety measures and policies.
- Organizes, schedules, and administers background screen appeal hearings for individuals whose criminal history records require USSS’s review.
Human Resources
- Manages and tracks unemployment and workers compensation claims. Analyzes trends and works with management to mitigate risk and identify areas of opportunity for prevention.
- Serves as organizational representative for unemployment and workers compensation hearings, audits, and other interactions with outside stakeholders.
- Ensures managers and other stakeholders are trained on unemployment and workers compensation best practices and supervisory responsibilities.
- Assists in other HR functions including hiring, job descriptions and benefit administration in support of other HR team members.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in an associated field of work and five years of related work experience. A combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Experience working with national associations or non-profit organizations is preferred, as well as a familiarity with and support for related sports programs.
- Experience developing and implementing educational programs.
- Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to create understandable reports so the organization can make informed decisions.
- Ability to exercise professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when dealing with personal information and/or cases brought by our members and involving the appropriate internal and external parties.
- Proven experience establishing and building relationships and rapport with individuals while dealing with sensitive information.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous projects, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with and build strong, positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience with conducting multiple party/complex investigations including interviewing skills, assessments and recommendations.
- Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge, preferable with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid remote/in-office environment.
- Ability to self-manage to meet necessary deadlines and keep projects on track.
- Ability to align with US Ski and Snowboard’s Mission, Vision, and Values and Strategic Plan to support our initiatives and organizational goals to support our athletes, members, and other constituents.
