Position Description  
 
The Performance Analyst contributes to the development and delivery of world-class performance analysis support for the Women’s National Team, ensuring that the female lens is at the heart of everything we do in alignment with the WNT strategy. The Performance Analyst is responsible for contributing to the design and delivery of video & data analysis to support the Technical and Analytics Staff in all phases of the game during domestic and international camps and competitions. Their role is to ensure all analysis is done in a detailed, effective, and efficient way to help optimize team performance as well as development within our federation. This person will also support and uphold the WNT’s culture and values that positively reflects the U.S. Soccer’s Strategic Pillars.

In Camp Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the Technical Staff and Analytics Staff in and out of camp, supporting all data analysis and technology.
  • Assist and/or record, capture and code all Women’s National Team games and training sessions while in a camp environment using our drones.
  • Code and distribute video on gamedays to the relevant Technical and Analytics Staff.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of all performance analysis support, including (but not limited to) training, pre-match, in-game, post-match, individual player support, scouting/player monitoring, team tracking.
  • Contribute to the organizational structure of all team content (i.e., video, opponent information, restarts, etc.) to ensure efficient and effective workflows.
  • Contribute to opposition scouting framework with the Analytics Staff, including (but not limited to) tagging, data profiles and presentation creation.
  • Contribute to the creation of content to be used for teaching materials based on team principles and style of play.
  • Contribute to restarts processes such as downloading, uploading and clipping footage to Hudl playlists.
  • Support with telestrating attacking and defending playlists.
  • Set up meetings rooms for team, small group and individual meetings.
  • Set up match and training day requirements, and test equipment in the stadiums on gamedays.
  • Create and manage the measurables data and the data visualizations for training sessions.
  • Ensure all video and data is stored correctly in line with U.S. Soccer standards.
  • Print training session plans and distribute to all relevant staff.

Out Camp Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Continue with work and processes as outlined in camp responsibilities.
  • Understand the extended player pool and support all scouting processes.
  • Support the Technical and Analytics staff with individual player meetings between camps (preparing video) to support the individualized approach. 
  • Collaborate with the Data Analytics department to develop data reports (i.e. player scouting, opposition analysis, and post-game reports) that enhance workflow efficiency, ensuring consistent delivery and improving decision-making.
  • Work closely with the Analytics and Research department support to research projects in the women’s game.
  • Collaborate with other analysts within the Federation to improve and expand on analysis processes.
  • Develop strong working relationships across the inter-disciplinary team, sharing and informing best practice.
  • Stay up to date on latest performance analysis research/technology and help support other colleagues’ development within the Federation.
  • Prepare and contribute to all presentations for upcoming camps.
  • Ensure all drone authorization forms are completed well in advance for camps.
  • Attend and support, if required, the WYNT camps.
  • Undertake a progressive and ongoing personal and professional developmental process attending and participating in house CPD sessions and external sessions.
  • Undertake regular performance appraisals to review your personal development plan and on and off camp progress with WNT Leadership.
  • Execute additional departmental and team tasks as requested by the Head Coach, WNT, Lead Assistant Coach, WNT, Program Director, WNT and Director of Sporting Analytics.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Knowledge and experience in working with female athletes or with female teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Performance Analysis or equivalent area of study 
  • Minimum 4 years applied experience as a video analyst (or similar role) working with coaches and performance staff 
  • Experience working with various performance analysis equipment and technology (specifically Hudl products; SportsCode & Studio, and Keynote) 
  • Ability to operate a hi-pod and FAA Remote Pilot Certification (or willingness to complete one) to operate a drone
  • Excellent analytical and verbal communication skills – the ability to convey the ‘story’ from the data 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of soccer (tactics, principles of play, modern trends) and the overall landscape of the sport in the U.S.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication combined with a professional demeanor
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Able and willing to travel up to 40% of the year 
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • General knowledge of soccer 
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments 
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission 
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Passion for soccer
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) 
  • Excellent organizational, data collection and planning skills 
  • Experience working in collaboration with coaches and other support staff
  • Previous experience with a club or national team 
  • Thorough institutional knowledge of U.S. Soccer’s mission, goals, technical plan, policies, practices, and procedures
