Lead Veteran Service Assistant
The Lead Veteran Services Assistant reports directly to the Veteran Services Coordinator. This position directly supervises the Veterans Services Assistant staff and works collaboratively with the Veterans Service Coordinator to ensure effective delivery of residential services. This position is assigned responsibility for daily implementation of the day-to-day basic residential services.
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Responsibilities
- Supervise the delivery of basic services (shelter, food, hygiene) to veterans served at the facility. Supervises the mail/postage process at the facility
- Supervises and organizes daily client services and support functions
- Supervise and manages the Veterans Service Coordinator staff
- Develops weekly staff schedule for resident staff with Veterans Service Coordinator
- Provide support, one-one training and supervision to residential staff
- Responsible for preventing or de-escalating/defusing any verbal/physical altercations at facility including submitting written report to Veterans Service Manager concerning these events
- Responsible for implementing and making necessary provisions for the fluidity of services
- Conveying needs to Veterans Service Coordinator to maintain supply inventory of supplies and meals coordination
- Responsible for implementing UA testing to promote a sober environment
- Responsible for implementation and supervision of all safety and emergency procedures
- Responsible for ensuring the accurate tracking and reporting of all residential services delivered at the facility and ensuring timely submission of these reports
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Requirements
- Good communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills.
- 1-year VSC or related program experience required
- Proven leader with ability to manage 8 to 10 residential staff
- Must be efficient in client-centered philosophy and skilled in creating and implementing a sober environment
- Basic computer literacy
- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course
- Must be energetic, dedicated to the mission and flexible
- Must have at least two years of leadership experience in the non-profit industry
