PasadenaLEARNS Expanded Learning Program

Are you good at math and want to help kids get better at math? We want you to work for us!

We are currently hiring for the2024-2025 school year for PasadenaLEARNs Expanded Learning Program. Mathnasium is partnered with Pasadena Unified School District to provide an after-school on campus math enrichment opportunity for PUSD schools in our area. The program will run from Tuesday - Friday from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

(The precise instructional hours are dependent on the program and will vary by school.)

The ideal candidate will be bright and ambitious, with excellent and professional interpersonal skills. Candidates should possess a strong grasp of math concepts. Will work in a fun and friendly team environment, and be trained on: curriculum knowledge to provide effective and concise math instruction to students of all ages, using the Mathnasium Method. Math Instructors will contribute to an engaging and productive learning environment, while participating in positive interactions with students and parents to establish a high level of confidence and program value. The Math Instructor is also responsible for assisting in evaluating and tracking student progress, and to maintain effective communication with the Center Director and fellow team members.

Required Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of arithmetic & algebra concepts
• Excellent work ethic
• A willingness to learn
  
• Must be within one year of receiving your High School Diploma

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience working with children as a Teacher, Tutor or Mathematics Instructor
• Pursuing a degree in education, math / science, or related field
• Ability to teach up to Algebra 1 or Geometry
• Excellent child management skills and ability to tutor in a small group setting
• Ability to create a sense of comfort in parents and children
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff, parents, and students
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent leadership skills

Instructor must be available to work aminimum of 3 weekdays, preferably 4 weekdays each week AND must be available for the entirety of program hours.

This is an in-person on campus, part-time position, with instructors typically working between 12 to 16 hours per week. While hours may vary, we aim to accommodate as many shifts as you are available for.
