What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Medical Technologist | Laboratory | Full Time position at UAB Medical West?
SIGN-ON BONUS : $10,000
Under the supervision of the Section or Shift Supervisor, the Lead Medical Technologist performs routine procedures in the various Laboratory areas including Blood Bank, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, and Chemistry. Assists in the coordination of training, quality assurance, or supervisory function as assigned.
1. Performs, reports, and checks accuracy of moderately complex lab procedure on bodily fluids as indicated in operating procedures.
2. Performs and properly documents preventive maintenance, calibrations, and daily quality control while takin appropriate corrective action as needed.
3. Processes samples and determines acceptability limits.
4. Follows all policies on critical values to include, but not limited to, calling and properly documenting notification of critical result to appropriate member of the patient medical team per CAP.
5. Assists with shift scheduling, instrument maintenance scheduling, coordinating training / re-education, and other supervisory duties as assigned by supervisor.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification in good standing as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (preferred) or equivalent, and one (1) year of related experience required.
