What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Tech | Medical Center Pharmacy | PRN position at UAB Medical West?
The Pharmacy Technician works with the outpatient Medical Center pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Maintains pharmacy medication storage areas for cleanliness, organization, and expiration.
- Maintains stock rotation and medication date checking.
- Accepts written prescriptions or refill requests from patients.
- Records medical histories while maintaining confidentiality.
- Delivers quality customer service to patients while responding to questions or requests.
- Verifies the accuracy of patient information.
- Counts appropriate medications, places them in the appropriate container, creates outpatient pharmacy labels, and places complete prescriptions in designated area for the pharmacist to verify.
- Participates in inventory audits.
- Processes patient insurances.
High school diploma or GED required. Pharmacy Technicians shall maintain, in good standing, the appropriate registration with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
