What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Manager - Surgery Center position at UAB St. Vincent's?
We Are Hiring
- Department: Outpatient Surgery Center North Tower
- Schedule: Full Time Monday through Friday
- Hospital: UAB St. Vincent's
- Location: Birmingham, AL
The ideal candidate would have:
- BSN or higher
- 3 years of experience in surgical services Preferred
- 2 years of leadership Required
- Experience with leading Direct Reports (Subordinates)
What You Will Do
Manage the daily operations of the assigned area(s).
- Develop specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Assess quality of patient care and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians and other departments.
- Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
- Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations. Maintain systems to assure adequate levels of supplies and necessary equipment.
- Manage daily surgery schedule maintaining communication with all disciplines involved.
- Plan and prioritize day-to-day activities of personnel. Adjust staffing to compensate for emergency situations or increase or decrease inpatient census.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing preferred.
- Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience
- OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience
- OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
