Overview:
The Patient Services Associate (PSA) is a specifically trained member of Infusion B Clinic team who provides both clerical and patient care support to the Patient Management Team. The Patient Services Associate works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or other licensed/certified health care disciplines on the unit and performs tasks and duties for which they possess the competency that do not require a licensed practitioner, professional judgment or intervention. In the clerical support role, duties include assisting with processing of medical records for patient admission and discharge and receptionist for the nursing unit. Salary: offered commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:- Provides Care in an Efficient Effective Manner; Organizes own workload to ensure completion during shift, in coordination with R.N. and other team members;
- Seeks assistance from appropriate staff when necessary; Utilizes down (unproductive) time toward patient and unit activities
- Accepts constructive feedback from peers/team members and takes corrective action when needed
- Obtains patient report as per unit policy and has on-going communication with R.N. regarding patient care/changes in condition
- Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints
- Performs other duties as defined by unit check list as delegated by R.N./CDF/CSM
- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
- Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed
- Carries out the Plan of Care for Patient using a Multidisciplinary Approach as Delegated by Team Leader
- Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care
- Verbalizes understanding of patient's plan of care
- Accepts directions from R.N.s and team members
- Follows through on delegated patient care activities
- Assists Patient with ADL/Personal Care; Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures
- Applies and monitors restraints
- Assists patients with activities (ambulation, up in chair, turn and reposition)
- Documents patients care per standards
- Documents vital signs, ADL, wave tests, I&O's accurately and timely and per unit and department standards
- Documents all patient care activities/task accurately and timely per standards
- Directs any questions regarding documentation to R.N.
- Documents on flow sheets and in eChart per unit and department standards
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- One (1) year Patient Care AND One (1) year of Clerical Experience in a health care setting.
- Successful completion of the UAMS PCT and PSC courses within probationary period (90 days).
- Ability to follow Oral Instructions
- Computer experience desired, Ability to communicate with staff, patient/families following Guest CARE guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of Patient Care and Clerical Experience.
