What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phone Specialist position at UB Neurosurgery, Inc?
Main Function:
Under supervision, is responsible for answering, distributing and triaging all incoming calls to the Call Center.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Answers all incoming calls in a polite, courteous, and professional manner.
2. Responsible for evaluating each patients/callers concern and distribute/triage calls to appropriate team members, or individuals in a timely manner using Team Preference Sheets for an appropriate solution.
3. Reschedules patients appointments.
4. Update insurance information, if a patient calls with changes and check insurance eligibility using HealtheNet/ ‘e’ in MEDENT.
5. Answer patient questions regarding appointments, inquiries and any other information that would ensure a proper resolution.
6. Makes recommendations and provides guidance in resolution to patients concerns, within the abilities of the operator(no medical/clinical)
7. Email/triage messages as requested and processes appropriately.
8. Familiarizes self with phone system and functionality.
9. Ensures compliance to department/company policies and procedures related to resolution of patients concerns.
10. Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or some college courses.
2. Medical office and clinical protocol experience, 2-5 years preferred.
3. Extensive EMR experience, preferably MEDENT.
4. Willingness to work as a team member to meet common goals.
5. Excellent organizational skills and Attention to detail.
6. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel, and Outlook.
7. Friendly, outgoing personality, excellent verbal communications skills.
8. Able to handle a high volume of patients.
9. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
10. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and multi-task.
11. Excellent customer service skills
12. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure when handling difficult clients/stressful situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
