Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the production department, ensuring the efficient execution of manufacturing processes, quality control, and workforce management. This role focuses on meeting production targets, maintaining safety standards, and continuously improving operational workflows. The Supervisor will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including quality control, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure seamless production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management
- Oversee the daily activities of the production team, ensuring that production goals are met and products are manufactured on time and within quality standards.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand and optimize machine usage.
- Monitor and adjust production workflow as needed to address bottlenecks or equipment downtime.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and resource allocation to meet production objectives.
2. Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all products meet the company's quality standards by working closely with the quality control team.
- Conduct routine checks and audits of production processes to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Identify and address any quality issues in collaboration with other departments to prevent defects and minimize waste.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing company safety protocols and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, ensuring that all equipment and work areas comply with safety standards.
- Provide safety training and ensure that staff members are aware of and adhere to all safety regulations.
4. Workforce Supervision
- Lead, manage, and motivate the production team to achieve high performance and efficiency.
- Supervise employee activities, including task assignment, performance monitoring, and providing feedback.
- Ensure proper training and cross-training of production staff to maintain a flexible and efficient workforce.
- Manage employee time and attendance records, ensuring adherence to schedules.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall production capabilities.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging lean manufacturing and other methodologies to improve processes.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance, quality control, and logistics, to streamline production processes.
6. Communication and Reporting
- Report production metrics and performance data to the Plant Manager and other senior management as needed.
- Coordinate with other production crews/departments, including purchasing, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure smooth production flow.
- Maintain clear communication with staff, addressing any concerns or challenges related to production processes.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Knowledge of production management processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems (Sage preferred).
Working Conditions:
- Production floor-based role with exposure to machinery and equipment.
- Requires occasional lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Regular interaction with team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
