What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at UBMD Obstetrics & Gynecology?
The Medical Assistant promotes patient flow in both the clinical and clerical areas of the office and performs tasks within the framework of a medical office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas of clinic
- Escort patient to room, obtain vital signs, take medical history, and verify medications
- Prepare patients for exam, assist or chaperone providers as needed
- Set up for and assist providers in officebased procedures
- Collect and process laboratory specimens
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation in patient medical records
- Complete clinical tasks, schedule appointments, and triage phone calls, as necessary
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other staff members
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 12 years of experience working in a healthcare practice setting preferred
- Experience working in OBGYN clinical practice a plus
- Excellent customer service and critical thinking skills
- Able to multitask in a fastpaced clinical environment while prioritizing patientcentered care
