The Quality Operator is responsible for various tasks assigned to Quality Projects, encompassing inspection, data collection, reporting, and the timely and professional communication of information, both internally and externally. The Quality Operator employs Quality tools, data, and other information sources to enhance products, processes, and services. This role contributes a Quality-focused approach to the development, launch, and improvement of specific aspects within new or existing processes.

Job Position: Quality Operator
Shift: Second Shift
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM

Purpose and Description:

The Quality Operator is responsible for various tasks assigned to Quality Projects, encompassing inspection, data collection, reporting, and the timely and professional communication of information, both internally and externally. The Quality Operator employs Quality tools, data, and other information sources to enhance products, processes, and services. This role contributes a Quality-focused approach to the development, launch, and improvement of specific aspects within new or existing processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct handset inspections to verify product compliance with UROC documented standards.
  • Utilize databases and spreadsheets to accurately record inspection results, and related information.
  • Sort, count, package, box, and label products as necessary to segregate conforming and non-conforming items.
  • Confirm failures reported from various departments within UROC.
  • Escalate critical issues to Quality leadership.
  • Perform internal audits and collaborate with Operations to address document non-conformance items.
  • Report audit findings and contribute to root cause analysis of failures or process breakdowns.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by management, related to the Quality department, 5S, training, and organizational metrics.
  • Conduct special project inspections to identify specific issues, involving inspection, data collection, and the creation of summary reports for area leadership.
  • Prepare and maintain files, summaries, and reports pertaining to Quality projects.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for discrepancies and propose process improvements.
  • Assist in cross-training employees in existing and new procedures as they are implemented.
  • Create and submit deviations for process changes as required.
  • Manage all non-conforming materials and issue purge letters as needed.
  • Assume responsibility for the technical accuracy and completeness of all Quality documents.

Other Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skill/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proficiency in navigating handset functions with prior experience in Quality inspection and Quality standards.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, inspection techniques, auditing, and the development of data collection and reporting.
  • Competency in standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
  • Ability to maintain productivity and quality standards set by leadership and to receive feedback on performance.
  • Experience in working cross-functionally with problem-solving skills and involvement in process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing Spanish is a plus

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing or repair center.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands may include bending, sitting, lifting, and standing as required by business needs. Extended periods of standing and/or sitting, up to 100% of a shift or overtime, may be necessary.
