What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem Home Health Aide position at UC Davis Health?
The UC Davis Health Home Care Services Certified Home Health Aide (per diem) is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team providing care to chronic and terminally ill patients in their home. Home-based care includes intermittent visits and shift care. The Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) reports directly to the Therapies and Home Health Aides Supervisor with clinical supervision provided by either the nursing or therapist case manager for the patients receiving care. The CHHA works within the scope of licensure developed by the California Department of Health Services, providing a full range of specialized care focused on increasing comfort, providing personal care / hygiene, maintaining independence, and supporting a safe, healthy environment for the hospice and / or home care patient.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position
- California Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) .
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR .
- Required to hold valid Driver's License, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies / procedures, and / or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program .
- Hospice and / or Home Health experience .
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology; ability to recognize the abnormal.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal communication and relationships.
- Ability to read, write and speak English language and utilize medical terminology appropriately.
- Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly.
- Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
- Ability to teach personal care skills to patient / families.
- Skills, knowledge and ability to continue to meet CHHA job expectations.
- Ability to perform nursing aide duties in a home setting, possibly in unhygienic conditions and / or homes with indoor / outdoor pets.
- Ability to assist in moving patients.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Position requires travel to various locations and sites within Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties. This position is subject to criminal background investigation. May be subject to alcohol and drug testing. Home Care Services follows the vaccination and masking policies and procedures set by UC Davis Health including COVID, influenza, and TB. Vaccination requirements vary.
