Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. However, in 2024 the FDA approved 13 new drugs for cancer and only two new drug for cardiovascular disease. The Briganti Lab leverages stem cell and genome editing technology, functional genomics, and phenotypic models to uncover disease mechanisms in heart conditions associated with specific mutations. Our goal is to develop precise, mechanism-based therapeutics to fulfill the vision of “treating the right patient with the right drug at the right time.”
The position: This project will explore the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of Dilated cardiomyopathy.
Must-have experience:
- iPSC culture and differentiation
- Molecular biology (cloning, qPCR, RNAseq, ChIP)
