Job Title: Scheduler
Reports To: The Scheduler position will report directly to the Clinic Manager.
Position Summary
To perform a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians and nursing personnel.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Patients Administrative functions
- Schedules patient appointments via phone call, online appointment request and reschedules appointments due to template changes.
- Registers patient appointments and verifies insurance. Obtains insurance information does not verify insurance.
- Refers or triages patients to appropriate nursing staff.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines/regulations/annual HIPAA training.
- Receives communication from patients via the patient portal regarding appointment changes that are needed and to update demographic information.
Schedules patients for testing procedures.
- Determines appropriate time/types of appointments and procedures.
- Assists with internal referrals to schedule appointment.
- Sends documentation to appropriate parties regarding patient care.
Maintains effective business relations with patients, physicians, vendors, and other business professionals.
- Resolves or appropriately refers questions, requests, and issues.
- Obtains and conveys information as needed.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Attends required staff meetings and in-services.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines/regulations/annual HIPAA training and other required training.
Education
- A high school education or GED.
Work Experience
- One to three years of similar or related experience
Knowledge
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

- High call volume medical scheduling
- Proficient computer skills.

- Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements

- Environmentally controlled medical office environment: Work hours subject to office needs to ensure coverage during all hours of operation; Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public.
