This research project aims to explore and understand novel behavior of magnetic nanostructures from a fundamental perspective as well as potential technological applications in next generation magnetic logic and magnetic memories. This project will have a strong focus in developing computational methods for understanding and analyzing the magnetic domain behavior in 2D and 3D. These methods will rely on using machine learning algorithms such as those based on CNNs and automatic differentiation. The results will be correlated with underlying physics to obtain a quantitative insight into parameters that govern the energy landscape of these magnetic systems. Some specific areas of interest include (i) Using ML techniques to develop algorithms for reconstruction of 3D magnetization; (ii) Using transfer learning approaches to correlate simulations with experimental image analysis.
Education and Experience Requirements
• Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution.
• Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
