NAMD is the most scalable molecular dynamics software in DOE leadership computing facilities. The current implementation of NAMD HIP/SYCL still has large space to improve functionalities to fulfill DOE advanced scientific computing research mission. The project proposes implementation of SYCL/HIP version alchemical free energy algorithm in NAMD. Alchemical free energy calculation has extensive applications in drug design and material design, and has been an important database maker for AI modeling. The CUDA version alchemical free energy method of NAMD has persistently supported DOE advanced computing program. This project needs a summer student skillful in GPU programming of high performance computing. CUDA C/C programming ability is the minimum requirement.
Education and Experience Requirements
• Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the program.
• Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
• Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.
• Must complete a satisfactory background check.
• Must reside in the United States at the time of their appointment and during their appointment at ANL.

HourlyThe expected hiring range for this position is $20.37-$27.50.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only.
