What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Aide – LCF – Stojanoska, Marija – 2.14.25 position at UChicago Argonne, LLC?
Inventory all internal webservices we, ALCF, has and make sure CheckMk is performing checks of these websites. Ensure people are subscribed to the write contact groups. Also, build out our documentation on confluence on how to do things in CheckMk. Work on an automated process to add and register newly built hosts in CheckMk, and assign them to a “Unassigned” folder. Also work on implementing JMX monitoring within CheckMk for our Java applications. Also, write end to end application monitoring checks (https://checkmk.com/blog/end-to-end-monitoring-robotmk) for user stuff. I kind of did that with PBS and my quick qstat check on the logins.
We have syslog from the 330 hosts or so, as well as logs from Jack. Work with people on identifying and building out better dashboards in Kibana.
Work with people on building out dashboards in Grafana with CheckMK data. CheckMk is great for one server’s metrics at a time, however if you want to see a collective, like the DTN’s, there’s no easy way to do this.
I had Ethan perform benchmarking last year, I would have this Intern automate the process
