Department Summary
UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a unique Southern California meeting and retreat venue. Located high in the pine-studded San Bernardino Mountains on the tranquil shores of Lake Arrowhead, our 50-acre lodge provides meeting space and accommodations for groups from September through mid-June. During the summer, Bruins Woods Family Camp program runs for ten consecutive weeks, with up to 80 families attending each week.
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Department Manager, incumbent is responsible for providing support to properties managed by the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. The incumbent inspects, repairs, and maintains painted exterior and interior painted surfaces, trimming and fixtures of buildings and other components of structures and facilities. Use premixed paints or custom prepared paints; apply wood finishes (new and/or old surfaces) and appropriately prepare surfaces. Perform repairs to drywall, plastered surfaces, wood, and stucco. Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of airless and conventional spray equipment. Cover interior walls and ceilings of facilities with wallpaper or fabrics. Discuss jobs with supervisor in order to keep apprised of job progress and resolve any problems related to the job. Submit completed work orders to supervisor. Provide direction to semi-skilled, unskilled and contracted workers. Maintain updated work order listed and accurate hours on each job; operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools and equipment of the trade; follow established safety procedures; inventory paints and stains, clean up job site,and return equipment and tools. Be able to work and assist other departments in periods of inclement weather.

Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. - 5 years Painting experience working with materials, equipment, methods, and tools of the paint trade. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform all aspects of skilled paint work. (Required)
- Working knowledge of surface toleration of wood, metal, plastic, etc., for paint, wood stain, varnish, and special coatings. (Required)
- Skill in performing basic arithmetic calculations sufficient to calculate work areas and materials and to estimate costs. (Required)
- Ability to inspect, clean, lubricate, and/or adjust paint-related equipment. (Required)
- Working knowledge of standard safety practices as they relate to the paint trade. (Preferred)
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and diplomatically with staff, management, residents, guests, and outside vendors. (Required)
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and/or directions. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions related to the paint trade. (Required)
- Knowledge of University staff personnel policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- Ability to maintain good attendance. Ability to arrive to work reliably and on time. (Required)
- Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, managers and supervisors, customers/clients, and members of the public. Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively as a team player. (Required)
- Valid Lead-based paint removal certification. (Required)

- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
- Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
- Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
- Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
