Join a high-performing financial team within the UCLA Hospital System as a Gift Accountant, supporting the accurate and compliant management of gift funds that benefit hospital programs and initiatives. In this role, you’ll contribute to the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, assist with audits and inventory processes, and provide key accounting support for both general and gift fund activities.
Reporting to the Gift Administrator of Medical Center Financial Services, you will serve as a technical resource in general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and financial reporting. You will also play an essential role in guiding departments on the appropriate use of gift funds, ensuring expenditures align with donor intent and University policies. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to collaboration and problem-solving.
In this role, you will:

Prepare monthly journal entries for both University and Medical Center general ledgers.

Analyze expense variances and prepare accrual or adjustment entries as needed.

Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts monthly.

Assist with the preparation of monthly budget variance reports.

Lead the annual inventory count and valuation process.

Support the implementation of new financial systems and technologies.

Assist with the Accounts Payable check write process.

Contribute to interim and annual audit processes.

Facilitate the appropriate administration of gift funds by:

Evaluating gift documentation for donor restrictions and intended purpose.

Guiding hospital managers on acceptable uses of specific funds.

Assessing expenses for fund alignment, availability, and policy compliance.

Initiating monetary fund transfers for applicable transactions.
