What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital Laboratory Technician I - Component Processing Laboratory position at UCLA Health Careers?
As a Hospital Laboratory Technician of the Component Processing Lab, you will support the manufacture and shipment of blood components (i.e. whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, apheresis platelets, and pre-pooled cryoprecipitated AHF). Primary duties include:
· Organize blood units, maintain an adequate blood supply, place orders, irradiate blood components, package and ship blood components
- Perform data entry and operate the computer programs associated with component production, labeling, storage, and shipping
· Perform routine equipment and product quality control testing
· Maintain Blood Bank records
Note:
The primary schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 12:30pm – 9:00pm, however, you may be assigned to a day shift (7:00am – 3:30pm) once or twice a week.
