DescriptionAs a Hospital Laboratory Technician of the Component Processing Lab, you will support the manufacture and shipment of blood components (i.e. whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, apheresis platelets, and pre-pooled cryoprecipitated AHF). Primary duties include : Organize blood units, maintain an adequate blood supply, place orders, irradiate blood components, package and ship blood componentsPerform data entry and operate the computer programs associated with component production, labeling, storage, and shippingPerform routine equipment and product quality control testingMaintain Blood Bank recordsNote : The primary schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 12 : 30pm - 9 : 00pm, however, you may be assigned to a day shift (7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm) once or twice a week.QualificationsA high school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET)Computer skills (e.g. typing, internet navigation)Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detailExcellent organizational, teamwork and time-management skillsAbility to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as neededWorking knowledge of medical terminology is a plusUCLA Health welcomes all individuals, without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin or disabilities, and we proudly look to each person’s unique achievements and experiences to further set us apart.
