What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Director position at UCLA?
The UCLA Center on Parking Policy seeks a dynamic and experienced Staff Director to lead its newly established center. This translational institution will bridge academic research, policy, and planning practice, focusing on parking reform. The Staff Director will be instrumental in building the Center’s presence, managing its operations, and disseminating research and policy findings to a broad audience. Under the general direction of Professors Adam Millard-Ball and Michael Manville, the Staff Director will play a key role in shaping the Center's agenda and impact.
Salary & Compensation

Qualifications
- 5 years At least 5 years of experience working with or for local and/or state government or advanced degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, or a related field. (Preferred)
- Experience working with parking policy, urban planning, and/or local public administration. (Required)
- Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex research into accessible language for professionals, legislators, the media, and the public. (Required)
- Experience with website management and social media outreach. (Preferred)
- Experience developing and executing strategic plans that align with long-term institutional goals. (Required)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external peers, managers, and teams. (Required)
- Experience in grant-funded project management. (Preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results. (Required)
- Strong ability to think creatively and independently on urban planning and parking-related concepts (Preferred)
- Strong ability in project management. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- Master's Degree Urban Planning, Public Policy, or related field (Preferred)
