UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional level Computer Operator III to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology - Single Operations Center, a unit within UFIT.
Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.
Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT), a division of UF Information Technology (UFIT), manages the UF Data Center and delivers hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, email, and related systems, in addition to connecting the University of Florida campuses to the world via high-speed data, video, Wi-Fi, telecommunications, and VoIP services. This unit also monitors and escalates issues faced with the university batch processes and mainframe processes.
UFIT is looking for a mentor and leader with excellent oral and written communication skills who is adaptable to a changing work environment and requirements to assess and provide technical solutions to meet the needs of business users.

UF Information Technology comprises eight departments reporting to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer: Academic Technology; Applications, Development, and Integrations; Business Center; Customer Experience and Resource Planning; Data Platform and Analytics; Information Security Office; Infrastructure and Communication Technology; and Research Computing. Benefits
Full-time TEAMS employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.
Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status. These leave days may allow units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

This position reports to the Single Operations Center located at the East Campus Data Center - 2060 NE Waldo Road Gainesville, FL 32609.
After completion of the probationary training period, this person may be scheduled (and should be available to work on) the weekends and holidays. The Single Operations Center schedule is highly variable and split between three shifts. The individual will be scheduled for the shift needed.
The candidate must have reliable transportation and must be able to pass a background check and provide references.
This position requires U.S. work authorization.

- Supervise the status and operations of computing and networking systems and provided services for UFIT, including Florida Lambda Rail. This leads to reporting and escalating any incidents to on-call support teams or service owners
- Monitor & escalate the status and operation of Data Center facilities’ infrastructure and communication infrastructure buildings (CIBs) located throughout campus
- Actively monitor and address service requests around key processes/jobs that may require modification or notification per according instructions
- Assist UF Help Desk customers after hours (as needed)
- Lead efforts in the maintenance and upkeep of the Single Operations Center documentation repository
- Be a primary mentor for other operators in the Single Operations Center
- Assist Data Center Supervisors with key unit projects and tasks
