The Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) team within University of Florida Information Technology (UFIT) is responsible for the campus-wide, enterprise Salesforce org which is used by a wide variety of offices to manage and enhance support provided to students, staff, and faculty. The offices use Salesforce for a wide range of case management scenarios, event management, and communications as well as for unit-specific business processes. The instance integrates closely with other enterprise systems such the enterprise human resource system, the student information system, and other campus-wide systems. On the CRM Team we strive to be nimble yet stable and to help the university be more efficient and effective in how we serve the members of our university community.

The Salesforce Developer II position will serve a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the custom codebase that underpins many of our more complex solutions. While we strive to follow the Salesforce model of “clicks not code,” we often need to augment or extend the platform with APEX code, LWC components, and other pieces of custom code. This role will work closely with the senior developer as well as the other Salesforce administrators and analysts on the CRM Team. Some projects may also require collaboration with developers and analysts on other UFIT teams. The position will participate in collecting requirements, developing scalable solutions, and ensuring consistency to Salesforce standard methodologies and coding patterns adopted by the CRM Team. The successful candidate will be expected either to bring or to develop a deep understanding of the Salesforce architecture to understand and produce code that aligns with the platform and how our specific instance functions. In addition to the coding and development responsibilities, this position will also be expected to function as a Salesforce administrator which will help deepen their knowledge of the system and the business processes we support.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Salesforce Development and Customization:
    • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of custom Salesforce applications and solutions to meet business requirements.
    • Coding Apex (classes and triggers), Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and other Salesforce technologies to create scalable and efficient solutions.
  • Technical Input:
    • Provide technical input to a team of Salesforce administrators and analysts.
    • Collaborate with peers to share and enhance technical skills and understanding of Salesforce processes.
    • Participate in code review with other developers.
    • Adhere to Salesforce development standard methodologies, coding standards, and security guidelines.
  • Architecture and Design:
    • Participate in discussions related to the architecture of robust, scalable, and maintainable Salesforce solutions.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to gather and interpret requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Issue Resolution and Support:
    • Provide technical support for Salesforce applications.
    • Identify and resolve code-based Salesforce issues in a timely manner.
    • Work closely with end-users to understand and address their requirements and difficulties.
  • Growth & Development with Salesforce Trends:
    • Stay up to date with the latest Salesforce features, functionalities, and industry best processes.
    • Evaluate and recommend new technologies or tools that can enhance Salesforce development processes.
