What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Manager position at UFirst Credit Union?
Hours: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
Pay: $80,000/yr or possibly higher depending on experience.
Your Purpose Will Be:
The person in this position will be responsible for ensuring the Credit Union complies with current laws and finance regulations, as well as prepares the business for future compliance initiatives. They will further manage the Compliance Department staff. Also, every employee is responsible for fulfilling our Mission Statement: To improve the financial well-being of our members, while providing world class service.
What You’ll Do:
- Evaluate, make recommendations, direct and /or assist in the creation or updating of the Credit Union’s policies, procedures, products, and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Communicate recommendations to management in a timely manner.
- Perform and/or oversee the ongoing analysis of a wide range of compliance and operational issues.
- Research and implement new compliance initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of all current and new compliance regulations concerning the Credit Union.
- Ensure all policies and guidelines are reviewed as required, with all necessary changes approved appropriately and updated in the Credit Union’s Policy Manuals.
- Maintain communication with supervisor, prepare and submit reports timely and attend scheduled meetings.
- Monitor CU departments to ensure compliance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the Credit Union’s ERM system (Quantivate). Work with all departments on the initial process assessment and then conduct periodic reviews to ensure information is up to date. Monitor and make recommendations on any concerns.
- Understands role and responsibility with the Business Continuity Plan.
- Hire, train, develop, motivate, coach and discipline department team; administer performance evaluations and recommend appropriate action.
- Provide guidance and act as a compliance resource for team members and volunteers.
- Understands the Bank Secrecy Act and how it is applied.

The experience you need to succeed:
- Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
- Equivalent of a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
- Certification as a Credit Union Compliance Expert, Certified Credit Union Risk Professional, or similar certifications preferred.
- Extensive CU or banking background.
- Knowledge of branch operations, internal control techniques, Credit Union policies and procedures, federal and state regulations.
- Working knowledge of Quantivate, NComply, Verafin, or Symitar Episys is a plus.
- Proficient with standard office business machinery and software. With working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Works primarily in an office or hybrid environment. This includes but is not limited to various outdoor and indoor climates and driving conditions. (Hybrid or work from home employees must be able to report in office if required.)
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly need to: see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive movements with arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel, grasp and reach. A computer, phone possibly including a smart phone, and standard office equipment are normal tools for this position. Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The employee may at times also need to: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
