Job Description:
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of private fleet drivers, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods. This role requires a self-managed individual with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update systems and communicate load information to drivers, provide status updates, and schedule pickups and deliveries as needed
- Monitor truck movements and freight from pickup to delivery, communicating with drivers throughout the trip process to assess and address any issues or problems
- Resolve scheduling conflicts caused by mechanical problems, delays due to traffic/weather, or changes requested by customers regarding times or locations
- Notify drivers of missing paperwork, equipment maintenance, and other important updates
- Train drivers on equipment and ensure completion of daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (VIRs)
- Manage driver performance reviews and oversee timecard entry and vacation requests
- Act as liaison between drivers and maintenance during breakdown events to ensure timely repairs
Requirements:
- Motivate and influence a diverse group of drivers with varied skill levels and backgrounds
- Work well under pressure and multitask efficiently
- Handle emergency situations and make decisions quickly
- Troubleshoot driver issues and solve problems using technology
- Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships across multiple functions
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and understanding of system capabilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats to all levels of leadership
- Resolves conflicts/discrepancies positively, professionally, and timely
- Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization, culture, and product lines
