Job Summary
The Utility A Start position is a bargaining unit position which requires a general knowledge and ability to perform basic construction related tasks and Utility tasks such as, but not limited to; responding to leak/CO complaints when qualified, building and installing single and multiple meter sets up to AL 425, basic pipe fitting, meter changes, MRSLIP investigates, service installations, leak pinpointing and repair, meter turn-ons, inspecting UGI Contractor crews, PA One Call locates when qualified, complying with all Company safety standards, responding to callout when qualified, after hours work and exposure to all weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful applicants shall be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment, and if hired, shall be subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with UGI policies.
As a federal contractor that engages in safety-sensitive work, UGI cannot permit employees in certain positions to use medical marijuana, even if prescribed by an authorized physician. Similarly, applicants for such positions who are actively using medical marijuana may be denied hire on that basis.

- Build and install meter sets and basic pipe fitting.
- Complete turn ons and light ups.
- Meter reading and complete MRSLIP investigates.
- Leak pinpointing and repairs, service installations.
- Inspect UGI Contractor crews, PA One Call locates, respond to leak/CO complaints when qualified and perform other duties as requested and callout when qualified.
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania vehicle operator’s license.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Good mechanical skills or pipe fitting skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills a plus.
- High School diploma required.
- Basic construction experience.
- CDL-A license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Valid PA Driver’s License.
- Basic backhoe experience a plus.
