The Global Category Manager - IT is primarily responsible for the management of critical supplier relationships of designated areas, lead the sourcing lifecycle (requirements gathering, RFI, RFP, contract negotiation) for enterprise-wide acquisitions of IT equipment, software licensing, consulting services, and other more complex technology and service acquisitions.
Experience sourcing datacenter equipment and services, including, but not limited to: platform server and storage, networking infrastructure and circuits, enterprise software, and technology labor and staffing support.
You will partner with business leaders in technology product categories to lead the sourcing lifecycle and execute targeted sourcing strategies, while using strategic sourcing best practices to balance value, demand management, risk reduction, supplier performance, and contract and category management.
We are looking for a candidate with category management experience willing to learn and drive the management of the category to reduce risk, cost, and ambiguity for our internal customers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of projects, contracts, and internal business partners to deliver business value and mitigate contractual risk related to Software and SaaS purchases
- Negotiation and management of Software and SaaS contracts of varying complexity, including financial, contractual (Terms and Conditions), and commercial terms
- Lead the negotiation process for Software and SaaS contracts, including engaging with suppliers, functional leaders, legal team, subject matter experts, executive leadership, and the business sectors, as required
- Maintains knowledge of current IT trends, vendor capabilities and changes within the technology landscape for traditional and emerging solutions
- Develops and drives performance improvements with service level standards
Strategic Category Management Accountabilities
- Develop, implement and manage the high-level category strategy and related profiles, including category-level sourcing opportunity identification and implementation across the UGI Family of Companies
- Lead team's efforts in conducting category-specific assessments of supply market to support decisions and influence management
- Direct and manage the market intelligence gathering, incorporate these findings into sourcing strategies, as well as using it to inform the overall demand placed on procurement sources
Category Management
- Leverage procurement spend in assigned category areas by leading cross-functional category teams to gather and analyze pertinent data

- Defining and delivering a value plan that includes Supplier Relationship Management
- • Lead team in conducting spend and demand analysis to identify opportunities, as well as ensure optimal spend leverage across the enterprise
- • Develop and maintain category plan and category strategies working in collaboration with business stakeholders
- Lead the drive for annual cost reduction commitments, strategic sourcing, source selection, and supplier management for in scope categories
- Manage RFx process, including communication between internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Negotiate agreement terms with selected suppliers, lead communication with key stakeholders (legal, BU, finance, etc ) to execute contracts Identify and establish strategic relationships with global suppliers and guide overall management of those relationships. Adjust procurement needs based on UGI's changing demands, and work with suppliers to ensure that procurement needs of UGI are met
- Lead efforts to develop and manage key supplier relationships and interactions, as well as work with the Supplier Performance Management team to address any contractual disputes
- Maintain responsibility for the profiling methodology, execution, governance and key decisions related to supporting subcategories line items and/or segments
- Manage supplier identification, evaluation, negotiation, selection, contracting and associated implementation for in-scope categories
- Develop category expertise and market understanding be attending conferences, supplier calls/meetings and attending key stakeholders’ meetings/calls.
- Lead team in providing category insights and expertise to business stakeholders and manage internal stakeholder relationships
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lead teams and indirectly influence in a global, matrixed team environment
- Expert-level knowledge of IT and Corporate Services related categories
- Expert in the category management including market analysis, demand management, strategic sourcing process, g supplier relationship management, risk management and the ability to track the value delivery of the category management work
- Expert in sourcing strategy formulation and implementation; process development / reengineering; contract / agreement writing; supplier/contract management; and continuous improvemen
- Ability to represent inter-departmental and corporate issues across internal and external boundaries
- Ability to interface at all levels of the organization and with suppliers to solve problems when facing evolving demands
- Demonstrated success in leveraging company-wide spend by ensuring the implementation of global/international agreements

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Science or Business (or other related degree programs)
- MBA preferred
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in category management and strategic sourcing experience including mastery in category profiling, strategy derivation, spend assessment, project management, and financial modeling
- Nationally recognized professional certification preferred (Technical Certificate, Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Professional Contract Manager)
