A great UHY client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, likes digging into the details, very strong Excel skills, is independent, and a self starter.
The Staff Accountant role will start onsite, with the potential to shift to hybrid later. This is a client direct hire position.
Staff Accountant Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory financial statements, related disclosures, and supplemental schedules for the Company’s insurance subsidiaries.
- Prepare various journal entries.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Perform various analytical reviews of financial information.
- Manage vendors, enter invoices, and process payments.
- Identify, document, and monitor key internal controls over financial reporting.
- Monitor the Company’s accounting systems to ensure accuracy of recorded accounting transactions.
- Support the Company’s audits.
- Research and apply statutory or GAAP accounting principles and reporting requirements and prepare supporting documentation for review.
- Other projects as assigned.
Staff Accountant Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of 2 year of relevant experience.
- Experience in financial statement preparation including note disclosures.
- Experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Staff Accountant Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial information systems.
- Knowledge of insurance statutory financial reporting a plus.
- Strong problem solving and process improvement skills.
- Familiarity with Oracle Fusion general ledger and Accounts Payable a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where multitasking and organizational skills are essential.
Staff Accountant Required Licenses or Certifications
- CPA or advanced degree a plus.
