What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoc Research Associate - College of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Sciences - Thomas Lab position at uic?
The Thomas Lab focuses on exploring novel mechanisms of epigenetic gene regulation through a combination of biochemistry, cell biology, and genomics approaches. Our research employs both in vitro and in vivo models, integrating advanced methodologies such as mass spectrometry, confocal microscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance imaging of free radicals, chemiluminescence, electrochemical analyses, genomic, and molecular biology techniques.
Notably, we have identified the free radical signaling molecule nitric oxide (NO) as an endogenous regulator of epigenetics, capable of influencing mRNA, histone, and DNA methylation. Current projects emphasize genome-wide analyses of epigenetic events contributing to the development and treatment of epigenetic-driven diseases. These projects build on our recent work, including studies on mRNA methylation (2023) and DNA methylation (2025.
We are seeking a self-motivated, career-oriented postdoctoral researcher to explore the function and dynamic regulation of mRNA and DNA methylation. The position offers a vibrant research environment and dedicated mentoring to support your scientific and professional growth.
