Position Summary
Research in the Freitag lab is focused on understanding how microbial pathogens invade human cells to cause disease. Research projects use a variety of techniques to explore bacterial infection of mammalian host cells, including tissue culture assays, mouse infection models, genetic techniques, biochemistry and cell biology approaches.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Keeping accurate records of the experiments suitable for writing manuscripts and grant proposals.
Presenting the results at scientific meetings.
Participate in weekly lab meetings, Journal Clubs, and common seminars within the Department.
Assist in projects focused on bacterial iron acquisition
Use of molecular biology approaches, tissue culture, and growth of bacterial cultures.
Use of mouse models of bacterial infection.
Mentorship and training of junior lab members. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
