Position Summary
The post-doctoral Research Associate will be in charge of operating the new JEOL Z200MF-MONO microscope, performing atomic-resolution imaging and spectroscopy in a magnetic-field-free environment. The hire will also be in charge of data analysis, drafting, editing and submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals and give presentations at microscopy conferences.
Duties & Responsibilities
a. Materials characterization is performed using electron microscopes at UIC, including the JEOL Z200MF-MONO and the JEOL ARM200CF.
b. Sample preparation using mechanical polishing or focused-ion-beam methods.
c. Data analysis and preparation of data for submission in a journal article
d. Drafting, editing and submission of journal articles
e. Interact with collaborators on UIC campus and external collaborators.
f. Train graduate students in using the JEOLZ200MF-MONO
g. Mentor, and guide undergraduate and graduate students in the Nanoscale Physics Group at UIC. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
