Position Summary
Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Ismail lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine, Department of Pathology. The candidate will join our funded research program whose goal is to determine the cellular and molecular immune mechanisms involved in innate recognition of intracellular bacteria by pattern recognition receptors and the effect of this innate sensing on the acquired immune responses to infection. Research in the laboratory is both basic and translational in nature and makes use of in vitro and in vivo animal-based model systems. These studies will involve one or more of the following techniques: animal experiments, flow cytometry, T cell proliferation assay, isolation of primary myeloid cells from bone marrow, RT-PCR, western blotting, cell culture using primary cells and cell lines, transfections, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, viral vector-mediated overexpression or silencing, and general immunological and molecular
