Position Summary
The Program Coordinator (Coordinator of Programming and Procedure-Based Simulation) performs administrative academic program duties under the general supervision of the Director of Simulation. This position supports faculty and content experts in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of simulation-based curriculum/programs. They will also lead the training of Standardized Participants for clinical simulations and procedural skills development, implementation, and assessment. The position takes a leadership role in the development and revision of campus-wide and/or departmental curricular policies and procedures. This position spans Undergraduate (UME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME).
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervises the Clinical Simulation function.
Develops, implements, and delivers situation-specific training to standardized participants (SPs) involved in the clinical simulation program. Sets the goals, objectives, and policies/procedures necessary for comprehensive SP training and evaluation.
Ensures that training of SPs meets the standards and policies of the program/campus/university.
Acts as a point of contact and subject matter expert for SP Clinical Simulation needs.
Provides specialized administrative support and expertise to the Director of Simulation Education and Scholarship and faculty, overseeing professional tasks, setting operating policies, and providing simulation advice.
Analyzes, develops, and supports context experts in the creation of procedural skill training and simulation opportunities to evaluate student performance.
Collaborates in the development and implementation of clinical scenarios with high-fidelity simulation mannequins, instructing medical students and residents in various domains, including critical care basics.
Participates in the development, implementation, and oversight of inter-professional simulation-based opportunities to train residents and students.
Collaborates in educational simulation research.
Appraises, develops, and offers new instructional materials and simulations in support of departmental courses.
Takes necessary steps to expand personal knowledge and remain current in simulation/education delivery techniques.
Manages and provides expertise with the creation, scheduling, and dissemination of simulation opportunities. Develops long-range plans, goals and objectives for standardization of SP simulation opportunities.
Manages campus resources used in planning, design, delivery, and modifications of simulation content.
Manages the assembly of confidential faculty and student data and records.
Analyzes, revises, and makes recommendations for program improvement based on data analysis and student assessments/interviews.
Provides oversight to office support staff in simulation related activities.
Implements education projects. Assesses project effectiveness, provides guidance and offers suggestions for improvement.
Point of contact and represents the Director of Simulation and the office, and coordinates working relationships with various campus units, outside agencies, committees and testing services at meetings and orientations.
Creates and maintains project reports as needed.
Perform other related duties and collaborates in special projects as assigned
