Position Summary
This position leads and conducts research in Public Health, health sciences, and population-based sciences with a focus on the design, methods and analysis of research projects and data and serves as a principal leader or co-leader of the Institute for Health Research and Policy's (IHRP's) Methods Research Core supporting a variety of Principal Investigators and researchers in the development of research projects and proposals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as an investigator on externally funded research grants and provide independent contributions to grant proposals.
Develop study design, protocol review, sample size determination and power analysis for clinical trials and observational studies as well as be responsible for working collaboratively to apply advanced, comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods, including performing complex data analyses.
Plan, coordinate, and implement research design and statistical analyses for research in population-based and public health sciences using rigorous scientific methodologies to meet the scope and agenda of the specific research project.
Develop and write sections of grant proposals and research manuscripts related to research design and analytic plans.
Seek out new funding opportunities that engage personal expertise and the unit’s overall objectives.
Develop and write manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications related to methodological advances and contribute collaboratively to other research manuscripts.
Supervise the research activities of Methods Core Research Staff and research staff on individual grants who are responsible for data analyses.
Document results of research through publication of scientific papers and presentations at scientific conferences. Maintain consistent knowledge of developments in their field. Lead publications on methodological advances contributing sections on data analyses, methods and results to collaborative publications.
Train, develop and manage staff to ensure that an efficient and qualified group exists to meet the research objectives effectively. Plan, assign, manage and review all of the work of the assigned research personnel to ensure that the project’s objectives are met.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
