Summary:
The University of Illinois Springfield invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor/Digital Instruction Librarian position beginning July 16, 2025. The Clinical Assistant Professor/Digital Instruction Librarian works collaboratively with other faculty and staff within the library and throughout the university to enhance information literacy learning. Under the direction of the Head of the Information Literacy and Academic Outreach Department (ILAO) they coordinate the design and distribution of discrete, reusable, asynchronous learning objects to meet curricular needs and to enhance students' information literacy knowledge and practices. As a member of the ILAO department, they participate in team projects and initiatives that support student success and promote a culture of assessment in the library. This is a full-time on-campus position and benefit-eligible non-tenured 12-month academic appointment.
UIS faculty are expected to be available and engaged in the university community to perform professional responsibilities as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND DIGITAL INSTRUCTION DEVELOPMENT: Provides leadership in the design of shared instructional materials in various formats.
Consults and collaborates with librarians and teaching faculty to integrate information literacy learning outcomes, assignments, learning activities, and learning assessments into in-person, hybrid, and online courses and curricula.
Designs pedagogically-focused learning experiences in various formats, including but not limited to online tutorials, in-class activities, research guides, videos, and training materials. Establishes best practices and standards for developing instructional materials and online content that is accessible to all users.
Maintains awareness of instructional design trends.
INSTRUCTION PROGRAM ASSESSMENT: Develops and implements assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the information literacy program in collaboration with the ILAO department.
Collect and analyze data on student learning outcomes related to information literacy. Use assessment results to improve and enhance instructional materials and methods.
Create reports and presentations on assessment findings for library and campus stakeholders.
Stay current with best practices and trends in instructional assessment and apply them to the library's programs.
INSTRUCTION, CONSULTATION, AND REFERENCE: Provides instruction, research consultations, and reference assistance to provide the effective use of information resources to enhance learning outcomes and research quality.
Conducts information literacy instruction for specific courses or groups.
Participates in developing and implementing information literacy initiatives to support UIS baccalaureate goals and learning outcomes.
Provides research consultations in person or online
Provides reference assistance in person and via email, chat, and phone May teach a section of any courses offered by the library
Service
DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES: Engage in the planning, facilitating, and assessment of departmental activities such as outreach,
programming, and student-employee training.
Collaborates with other faculty and staff to develop and provide outreach services, including orientations,
student events, giving campaigns, and other library or campus initiatives
Contributes to the support and training of library student employees Collaborates with
