What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Material Handler position at UKM Transit Products?
The Shipping and Receiving/Material Handler is responsible for all incoming and outgoing activities as it relates to incoming receipt of materials and outgoing shipments of product. The also role includes general in process material handling throughout the manufacturing facility. The individual will be responsible for local driving of company vehicles (non-CDL) for transportation of materials to vendors and or customers. This individual will work within an ERP system for transacting all required activities related to the job functions.
Job Functions:
- Unloading and receiving materials that arrive via LTL, flatbed, or other means.
- Examining and counting materials upon arrival and receipt of material per standard operating procedures.
- Shipping activities include preparing and packing shipments to vendors and customers per UKM standard packaging procedures to ensure safe delivery of all product.
- Generate shipping documents and work with customer and logistics companies to schedule outbound shipments and obtain BOL’s. This may require using various shipping portals and or customer communications.
- Generate all UPS/FedEx shipments utilizing required means.
- Monitoring and managing all shipping and packaging inventory (boxes, crates, packaging supplies, etc.)
- Assist in general material handling activities such as picking materials/components, managing inventory, conducting inventory counts, organizing/staging work in process materials for production, etc.
- Organizing and maintaining the shipping and receiving area
- Monitor and maintain the forklifts on a daily basis and manage the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Fork lift operation is required
- Overhead crane operation required
- Other support activities as the facility requires.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday: 6:00AM-2:30PM. Overtime as necessary
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years preferred working in shipping/receiving/material handling capacity within a manufacturing environment.
- 2 year preferred operating fork lifts and other material handling equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Proficient in Microsoft office.
- Excellent communication skills
- Well organized and strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
