Job Overview
Ulrich Horse Barns is seeking a highly skilled Plant Manager to lead operations at our metal fabrication facility. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, quality control, equipment maintenance, workforce management, distribution, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in metal fabrication and manufacturing operations, with a strong leadership background in lean manufacturing and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all plant operations related to the fabrication of metal components for horse barns, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Develop and implement production processes to optimize efficiency, minimize waste, and ensure the highest quality of fabricated structures.
- Supervise and mentor plant staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage plant workflow, equipment maintenance, and space utilization to maximize productivity and ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental policies, and company safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and customer service teams to align production capabilities with customer needs and business objectives.
- Control inventory and supply chain logistics to maintain optimal material levels and prevent production delays.
- Oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring that all products meet specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare and manage the plant budget, monitoring expenditures, labor costs, and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for process enhancements and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Lead workplace safety programs to minimize accidents and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Recruit, train, and develop plant employees, ensuring the team is equipped with the skills needed for success.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations for distribution, service, and equipment transportation.
- Act as a hands-on leader, engaging directly in problem-solving and operational improvements as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of metalworking processes, welding, CNC operations, and quality control standards.
- Expertise in lean manufacturing, process improvement, and production planning.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Proficiency in manufacturing management software, ERP systems (preferably Infor), Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of OSHA compliance, safety programs, and workplace regulations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a hands-on, results-driven approach.
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred but not required).
