THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

As an Associate Merchant, you’ll partner with Merchants/Senior Merchants to develop and implement omni merchandising strategies across the business. You will be assisting the curation and presentation of innovative and profitable brands/assortments through merchant collaboration, managing special project initiatives, maintaining brand relationships and partnering cross-functionally to drive a seamless omni-channel experience for our guests.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and maintain relationships with brands through brand intake management process in partnership with senior merchant
  • Spearhead the execution of special merchandising project initiatives
  • Create curated presentations of cross-category brand assortment based on trends, analytics, and assortment white space
  • Stay on top of trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activity 
  • ​Partner with Senior Merchants and MP&I on the financial and profitability strategy of portfolio of initiatives and projects, making financially sound business decisions and assistants with the execution of financial plans
  • Successfully partner with marketing and operations to deliver a seamless omnichannel experience, bringing our vision to life and engaging our guests
  • Coordinate the planogram process with internal teams and vendors
  • Lead marketing strategy across print, email marketing and in store graphics for various brands and strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a team culture that is results-oriented and exemplifies a team mentality that aligns to Ulta Beauty’s Values, Mission and Vision 

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

  • 4 years of professional, relevant experience within merchandising, planning or inventory
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Brand relationship management: creating and sustaining strong business partnerships that maximize the value of the brand and Ulta Beauty. This includes the skill of negotiation
  • Influence and communications; grounded in analytical rigor, expertise, and a set of soft skills that inspire alignment
  • Financial acumen: understanding of a brand and company P&L and the drivers of profitability
  • Assortment management: combines art and science to ensure competitiveness and sustainable improvement
  • Business acumen: ability to understand a business situation (risks, opportunities) and utilizes/applies strategy, finance and operations to navigate those situations
  • Collaboration: strong partnership with internal partners, understands that success is done by a team of people
  • Planning and prioritizing: ability to stay organized in a fast-moving business
  • MS office: demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including Excel (v look-ups and formulas)
  • Passion for brands, products and assortment development
  • Curiosity: learns continuously from merchants and senior merchants, asks questions openly, shares insights
  • Mindset that emphasizes teamwork
