THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE:

Develop and drive the strategy to grow and optimize Ulta’s supply chain network, drive end-to-end supply chain efficiencies, and improve order fulfillment performance (speed and cost), while building the long-term strategy and capabilities for a sophisticated omnichannel fulfillment and delivery infrastructure. Perform exploratory analysis and provide recommendations to drive efficiencies and reduce value leakage. This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain principles, advanced modeling and analytical skills, and the ability to drive change within a complex organizational environment.

•  Leading the development and implementation of supply chain network design strategies that align with business objectives and maximize operational efficiency.
• Utilizing advanced modeling techniques and optimization algorithms to design and evaluate various supply chain scenarios, considering factors such as transportation costs, inventory levels, lead times, and customer demand patterns.
• Identifying opportunities for network optimization, consolidation, and expansion to enhance customer service levels and minimize total cost-to-serve.
• Collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to gather relevant data, conduct analysis, and present recommendations for network design improvements.
• Performing exploratory analytics on the end-to-end Value Chain and provide recommendations for optimization.
• Analyzing various “what-if” supply chain scenarios to prepare a cost/benefit analysis of proposed change.
• Supporting the Supply Chain Project & Capability Roadmap, evaluate planned ROI and ideate projects that will drive results to Ulta’s bottom line.
• Collaborating with the analytics team to manage workload intake process, working with business leads to define Insights projects while creating a pipeline of data and analytics to help define and drive our strategy forward.
• Designing and developing network strategy recommendations including the optimal use of current assets, investments in new technology, expansion of capacity, evaluation of alternative fulfillment models (i.e. 3PL, drop-ship) etc.
• Initiating, and driving Network Optimization projects.
• Gathering, analyzing and triangulating data from multiple internal and external data sources and use the data efficiently and effectively to derive meaningful and useful insights as well as actionable results for supply chain partners
• Developing models, tools, and processes to support ongoing supply chain and network optimization.
• Leading and developing and network models to support projects including the construction of new distribution centers, the automation of existing distribution centers, and the optimization of end-to-end supply chain costs.
• Developing network sensitivity analyses for factors affecting the supply chains including transportation costs, labor costs, and capital costs.
• Analyzing supply chain and network data leveraging enterprise databases and other data sources (SQL experience required).
• Developing Material Flow Diagrams and related analysis
• Designing and developing coding as needed to support cross-functional projects and continuous improvement analysis.
• Leading collaborative efforts with multiple internal and external departments including Distribution, Transportation, Merchandise Planning, Marketing/eCommerce, Stores, and Finance to gather assumptions and to share network optimization results

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

• 10 years’ experience of Supply Chain Network Design, Data Science or Consulting
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong expertise in using supply chain modeling software (e.g., Llamasoft, AIMMS, or similar) and optimization tools.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles, network design methodologies, and industry best practices.
• Proven experience in driving process improvement initiatives.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Excellent knowledge of multiple of the following programming language/frameworks: Python, R, Java, Matlab, SQL, Scala
• Strong understanding of various data science models and their applications to the business (regression, clustering, classification, optimization, recommendation, NLP, etc.); understanding of demand forecasting & inventory optimization models a plus.
• Extremely strong strategic mindset, with critical reasoning and qualitative analysis experience.
• Well established analytical and quantitative skills to build strong business cases and recommendations that will drive our strategy.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to exercise sound judgment in making data driven business decisions.
• Enthusiastic, persistent, action-oriented, and a strong sense of accountability.
• Highly motivated self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, and operate independently with minimal direction.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills with a solid understanding of financials of each segment of the supply chain. Ability to develop presentation materials to highlight Network Optimization results, and the business opportunities and value derived from the models.
