Position
Applications Engineer
Location: Hobbs, NM
Job Description: Analyze data and recommend solutions with respect to product selection and customization for the oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities include:
Engineering Team Mentoring
- Provide support and training for junior members of the engineering team, for both field and office-based operations.
- In conjunction with Engineering Manager, develop technical and sales training material for the team and oversee implementation.
Drilling Application Analysis
- Data collection, analysis and knowledge management.
- Providing a high level of service to our customers with regards to optimizing drilling.
- Maintain a high level of technical knowledge to service the customer in a professional.
- Briefing rig personnel to ensure the maximum performance is gained from bit/tool runs.
- Provide detailed performance studies for optimization of drilling performance for critical or strategic applications.
Product Development
- Use product knowledge and engineering principles to develop and optimize fixed cutter drill bit designs through DDF process.
- Communicate new product expectations to sales force and/or customers.
- Make applications specific recommendations for product standardization or obsolescence.
Sales Support
- Identify new business opportunities (new customers and new applications within existing customers and develop products to suit).
- Provide technical applications support to the sales team, through customer meetings and presentations.
- Provide technical support for customer feedback reporting process — CFF.
Requirements:
- Bachelors' Degree in Engineering.
- 5 or more years' experience in the drilling, rig site or drill bit experience.
- Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization, from Shop to Executive; critical and analytical thinking required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or operate machinery/tools to lift more than 50 pounds.
