The Loan Servicing Assistant plays a key role in supporting the administrative functions related to commercial and residential mortgages, as well as consumer loans. Working within established policies and regulatory guidelines, this individual is responsible for maintaining loan records, managing escrow accounts, processing payments, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. A commitment to delivering outstanding service-both internally and externally-is essential to success in this role. This position is fully in office in Bethesda. The hours are 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. Salary is up to $62k and will depend on experience. Candidates must have BANKING INDUSTRY loan servicing experience.
- Manage the disbursement of escrow funds for property taxes and insurance premiums.
- Monitor compliance with insurance requirements, particularly flood insurance, for applicable loans.
- Generate and distribute notices related to tax and insurance deficiencies and insufficient funds (NSF).
- Post loan payments, process wire transfers, and issue checks as needed.
- Assist with the preparation and mailing of billing statements and notices.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, conducting thorough research to resolve issues effectively.
- Provide support for general loan servicing questions including payment history, account updates, and error resolution.
- Prepare loan files for new accounts and assist in scanning and archiving daily loan documentation.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and teamwork in interactions with colleagues and clients.
- Maintain and track documentation related to error resolution and information requests in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Audit and monitor loans using third-party tax services and flood certification systems; track delinquent taxes.
- Review and act on daily reports related to loan servicing activities.
- Perform notary duties for satisfactions and other bank-related documents.
- Provide backup support for fellow team members in the loan servicing department.
- Stay current with changes in internal policies, banking regulations, and loan products.
- Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned by management.
- Comprehensive understanding of mortgage products, loan servicing procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong decision-making skills, especially in handling complex financial and operational matters.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities, with confidence in dealing with clients and senior executives.
- Proficiency in accounting principles to assist with reporting and reconciliation tasks.
- Intermediate-level computer literacy, including familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet tools.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage lending; OR
- Equivalent combination of education and 4 years of relevant experience in loan servicing.
