What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scheduler position at Ultimate Staffing?

Due to an ever-changing business environment, this job description is intended as a guideline for duties to be performed by employee. From time to time, duties may change. Employee understands and acknowledges that she will endeavor to accomplish the assigned tasks within the given time frame, outlined by supervisor on an as needed basis.
- Answer phones and schedule patients for services, [1] collect demographic data on patient, [2] collect insurance data on patient, [3] set date and time with appropriate facility and confirm with patient, [4] discuss with patient what she or he is likely encounter during procedure.
- Secure preauthorization if needed from insurance company, also make sure all insurance and billing information is current and accurate.
- Follow-up with patient after procedure has been performed. Make sure radiology report will be delivered in a timely fashion and has the correct patient information on it. Forward immediately to referring physician.
- Perform general reception duties, e.g. answering the phone, greeting the public, taking and relaying messages, sending and receiving mail and packages, dealing with vendors and sales people, etc.
- Perform other general office tasks (including filing), and/or marketing and sales support duties as assigned.
You will be working different shifts. These hours are very flexible, can be for example 9am to
6pm, or 1pm to10pm, based on patient schedule.
