About the role
Reporting to the Director of Creative Services (DCS), the Graphic Designer assists in producing and distributing numerous print and digital publications in the support of UMAF’s fundraising strategies and outreach efforts. Working closely with the DCS, the Graphic Designer designs marketing and fundraising communication products such as proposals and reports, event presentations, direct marketing solicitations, and web presences, while supporting other UMAF colleagues and units. The Graphic Designer understands and reinforces brand integrity and cohesion across all media for the division.
The Graphic Designer is proficient in both traditional and electronic development tools. This includes participating in conceptualizing, planning, and designing creative visual content for all media channels.
Location: This is a full-time hybrid position and is open to employees in select US states: Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
What you'll do
- Develops high quality, impactful, creative graphic layouts for various communications and marketing projects across a variety of print, branded merchandise, digital, web, and social media channels as assigned.
- Assists in planning, implementation and execution of marketing concepts, brand development guidelines and integrated communication strategies.
- Maintains timely production and distribution of all print materials; review and approve printers' proofs prior to publication; performs press checks to ensure high quality of finished product prior to distribution.
- Works with the Director of Creative Services to ensure compliance with UMAF and university brand guidelines is maintained throughout the creative process. Delivers assigned projects on-time, on-budget, and on-brand.
- Maintains university and USPS mailing policies and regulations.
- Design sophisticated event-related materials including invitations, programs, signage, table tents, and cross channel promotions as needed.
- Provides branding and design support for web, html emails, newsletters, letterheads, solicitations, event invitations and recaps as requested.
- Design digital presentations in multiple formats: PowerPoint, Google Presentations, Keynote, etc.
- Design and illustrate infographics, icons and other visual assets for video, web sites, emails and print material.
- Assists Director of Creative Services to ensure brand excellence and adherence with every product produced, as well as provide any necessary art assets.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required in Graphic Design, Art Direction, Photography, Marketing or related field. Minimum of three (3) years of creative services or related work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to depict abstract ideas and marketing messaging through visual representations; portfolio required. Ability to think creatively and conceptualize integrated communications solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with creative design projects and print production.
- Proven photo and video editing skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, including lnDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, or other graphic design applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to cooperate and collaborate with a variety of constituents, with multiple interests and varying levels of authority and influence.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently and plan, prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously. High level of manual dexterity, eye/hand coordination, color vision and finger dexterity to manipulate images in computer aided graphic designer. Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) years of creative services or related work experience
- Experience in higher education a plus
