- M-F 8am-5pm (occasional extended hours/weekends if required)
Job Summary:
This position serves as an HR Generalist with a wide range of knowledge and experience in human resources, with a primary focus on employee relations at UMC Physicians. Responsibilities will include developing and administering employee relations programs, administering organizational Affirmative Action/EEO programs, managing corrective action and performance management processes and programs, processing unemployment claims and appeals, advising, coaching, and training organizational leaders, and assisting with initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention. This role will also provide support to other areas of HR as needed, including benefits administration and recruitment."
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides advice and counsel to employees and managers on the
practices.
- Works with management to analyze and address employee
- Advises management with corrective action process to include employee
- Serves as HR point of contact for employee complaint and grievance
- Conducts workplace investigations as needed.
- Helps to ensure organizational compliance with applicable federal, state,
- Administers organizational Affirmative Action and EEO Programs to
Affirmative Action Plans.
- Assists with interactive process with employees to determine ADA
- Administers organizational performance management programs to include
- Assists with creation and update of organizational policies.
- Prepares reports and analysis of employee relations related activities.
- Prepares and submits regulatory reporting to include annual EEO-1 and
- Responds to unemployment compensation claims and hearings through
these areas.
- Develops and conducts management training on topics to include AA/EEO,
management, positive employee relations, corrective actions, terminations
and personnel policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with HR team members on various HR and organizational
- Participates in various organizational employee engagement and
orientation and the annual employee banquet.
- Provides support to other areas of HR as needed include benefits
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business
equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience to include employee
issues as well as working with Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative
Action, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Family Medical Leave Act
policies and programs.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite to include (Outlook, Teams, Word,
- 3 years of previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience with ADP and Workday HR software preferred.
Preferred Licensures/Certifications/Registrations:
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), SHRM Certified
or Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills
critical thinking/problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to include the ability to build and effectively
- High degree of professionalism and ability to deal with confidential
- Thorough understanding of employee relations/HR and best practices, as
regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply applicable employment related
- Strong ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships:
The person in this role will have interactions with all departments and employees within UMC Physicians.
Physical Capabilities:
Occasionally exerts a small amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects. Should be able to lift 10 lbs. Work involves sitting for prolonged periods of time. Requires some standing, walking, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to complete essential functions of the position. Must be able to transact business in person, online and/or on the telephone.

This position is primarily subject to inside environmental and varying temperature conditions.
